In the early eighties Humberto turns his attention to recording his own work. 1986 sees the launching of his first CD, Echoes of the Past ( Ecos del Pasado ), backed by the Arte por Arten ( in italics ) Foundation. It is a compilation of traditional flamenco, with most of the recordings made between the years 1982 – 1986.

DUTCH TOUR

In 1985 El Payo Humberto, with the help of Luis Aravena, arranged a Dutch tour
for the singer Carmen Linares, who was to be accompanied on the guitar by Pepe Habichuela.

2 DE CD - 1986

In 1988 Wilkes launches his second CD, bearing the title of Flamenco in Amsterdam.
The CD is a live recording of the singer Antonio Merenguito accompanied on the guitar
by El Payo Humberto, featuring  a host of traditional songs.
