In the early eighties Humberto turns his
attention to recording his own work. 1986 sees
the launching of his first CD, Echoes of the
Past ( Ecos del Pasado ), backed by the Arte
por Arten ( in italics ) Foundation. It is a
compilation of traditional flamenco, with most
of the recordings made between the years 1982 –
1986.

DUTCH TOUR
In 1985 El Payo Humberto, with the help of Luis Aravena,
arranged a Dutch tour
for the singer Carmen Linares, who was to be accompanied
on the guitar by Pepe Habichuela.

In 1988 Wilkes launches his second CD, bearing
the title of Flamenco in Amsterdam.
The CD is a live recording of the singer Antonio
Merenguito accompanied on the guitar
by El Payo Humberto, featuring a host of traditional
songs. |
